…at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships
–so that we may live from
deep within our hearts.
May God bless us with anger…
…at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people
–so that we may work for
justice, freedom and peace.
May God bless us with tears to shed…
…for those who suffer from pain, grief, rejection, starvation and war
–so that we may reach out our hands
to comfort them and turn their pain to joy.
May God bless us with just enough foolishness…
…to believe that we can make a difference in the world
–so that we can do what others claim cannot be done.
And the blessing of God who creates, redeems and sanctifies be upon us and all whom we love and pray for this day and forever more.
Amen

Wow! May I repost this on my “Not My Poetry site”? This is beautiful!
Yes it is lovely, of course you can share it, would you please give credit to Tearfund.ie as the author works for that organisation. Thanks
This is lovely – I am going to put this quote from it on my wall
#May God bless us with just enough foolishness…

Thanks for sharing this, it is fabulous! #TheMMLinky
I’m glad you liked it and have found some inspiration through it 🙂
So true, Liberty, about anger and sadness and what God can do and what we can do and be.
Yes, if we felt ‘happy’ all the time, what reason would there be for us to feel compelled to make any changes?
I’m not a believer in God, but I totally love the sentiment of this prayer! Thank you for sharing with #TheMMLinky
That’s awesome! I think you have just demonstrated that we both agree, whatever you believe, there are some universal truths. BTW it’s good to be a party of the linky.
Very wise words in this prayer, thank you #TheMMLinky
Thanks for reading 🙂
May God bless you for penning this. Beautiful post.
It is a lovely prayer Shelley, all credit goes to an anonymous writer from the Tearfund organisation here in Ireland.
Thank you. I’ll be looking into the Tearfund organisation then.
Oh I would be delighted if you would! They do amazing work helping to transform lives through the local churches in the impoverished places across our world.
