My kids answer some questions about living on a Deserted Island
In my previous post where I asked my kids some questions about the future I learned some interesting things, not only about my children but about the world in general. For example, I discovered that I would be the future mother-in-law to Tom Holland (then I hastily Googled the lad just so that I’d know him to see him when he comes to ask for her hand in marriage).
I also realised that I had better get cracking on my knitting skills, because if I am going to have 15 grandchildren, best I start kntting baby cardigans ASAP.
I loved the time with each child asking them random questions, as it allowed me a little glimpse into their imaginations and allowed me to appreciate their individual sense of humour and creativity. I learned some real facts too (especially this week), not only have they picked up some random facts in school but the curriculum has changed since I was there almost 100 years ago.
I interviewed each child on their own so that their answers wouldn’t be influenced by their siblings and it was interesting comparing the differences and similarities.
One thing is clear, I need to brush up on my celebrity knowledge as I didn’t know what half of these mentioned actually look like let alone who they are. It also looks like I’m not escaping Tom Holland anytime soon. 😀
As I mentioned previously my children are 16, 13, 11 and 9 years old, I’ve colour coded their replies accordingly to make it easier to identify their answers with their ages:

Now it’s your turn, what are some of the funny answers your kids have given?
Fill in your details if you’d like the next post emailed directly to you, or tell me what you like about this post in the comments section below:
Brilliant idea and some intriguing answers too – I will of course pinch your idea immediately to get the children talking #BlogCrush
Great, I look forward to reading their answers! I pinched the idea off another blogger. 😂
Yup – I would definitely take chocolate with me too! #coolmumclub
Me too, most important food, that and coffee!
Ah some fellow Moana and Narnia fans – I think we’d get on well! Hehe. And I think taking Bear Grylls along is a good shout – just the person you want with you on a desert island! #blogcrush
We’d have some happy singalongs and story telling times for sure! 🙂
This is such a brilliant idea! I love it, and I love the diversity in the answers too! How brilliant! #blogcrush xoxo
Just a bit of fun really, but also something to cherish for the future I think. 😊
I absolutely love this idea, I dread to think what my daughter woud say now (she’s an emo teen so very deep and dark) but I wish I’d done this when they were both cute and sweet with their ideas about life…maybe I SHOULD do it now…they may surprise me! #blogcrush
That can be a scary stage for teens and parents but you are right, their answers may surprise you. I also wish I had done this earlier however I have found the time with my kids interesting because it has drawn them out of their shells a bit. Good luck. Xx
Liberty great to see that Tom Holland is back again! I also love their rules for the island. A real Lord of the Flies moment. The book choices are also a great insight into their characters. As a Latin student glad to see Homer gets a shout too plus my all time childhood favourite Nancy Drew. I still have my books from back in the 80s and my youngest just labelled them as dull and behind the times. Hilarious! Great series Liberty and look forward to the next instalment. What will they say next? #TweensTeensBeyond
It’s funny how the books we loved seem so dated to our children, there is a new Nancy Drew series out, in a diary format, that are the books she is referring to. I think they were written following on the success of out diary series for that age group. Hat’s off to you for being a Latin student! xx
Brilliant again Liberty. Nice to see good old Tom Holland making another appearance. Loved the food selections too. Thanks so much for sharing with us at #TweensTeensBeyond
Haha, he’s still the flavour of the month, I wonder what next month will bring? I love how my kids still surprise me. xx
This is brilliant. I wonder what my kids would say? #BlogCrush
You should definitely try it, such a fun exercise!
Loved it! I had to laugh a few times because the answers were so awesome. #BlogCrush
Thanks, kids can be so funny sometimes! 😁
So cute! And I have absolutely no idea who any of those celebs are! I’m so out of touch! They all sound like a wonderful mix of intelligence meets creativity, good job Liberty 🙂 #BlogCrush
Thanks Alice! 😊 Lol, I felt like my own mother when they mentioned all those celebs and I had no idea who half of them are. This is definitely a sign that we are getting old!
Great answers and I am so impressed that each of the mentioned at least one fruit or vegetable; so healthy!! #blogCrush
So cute! This made me smile….”No big arguments, otherwise you will be thrown into the sea”!
#BlogCrush
Shelbee

Yes that one made me smile too. 😊 So sweet and naïve!
Great answers! Of course, I’m out of touch with modern culture so need to google most of those names! Was surprised, and delighted, that cucumbers were one of the chosen foods for three out of four. Thanks for hosting #BlogCrush.
The cucumbers have made a big Impression! It’s possibly because I one told the kids I went on a hike and one of the girls brought a cucumber which was a life saver when our water bottles ran dry! 😁
Omg i love all your babies answers but especially your 13yr old. They sound like a very wise old soul. I look forward to more future blogs on your kids answers. #BlogCrush
Thank you, I’m also looking forward to doing more interviews with them, some of the answers are surprising! 😁
Haha! These made my laugh, what a lovely idea! I like their island rules! #blogcrush
Imagine if kids made all the rules in the world, would be interesting! 😂
Just as entertaining and illuminating on #BlogCrush!!
I am in love with your youngest child. All the answers are amazing. Especially the one if you become the leader of the tribe.
Their imaginations seem to be wilder the younger they are 😁 I’m delighted you’re in love with her, I find her quite loveable myself. 😊
Oh this is brilliant! ‘Do to others as you would be done by – but not murder if you’re suicidal’ haha! Also so impressed by their food choices – cucumber!? Where’s the cake!? Great kids and lovely post xx Maria
Haha, yes the cucumber surprised me – seems like going into survival mode brings out the sensibility in them!
Oh wow what an amazing little snapshot into each of their minds! I’d love to go through this with Tigs – I reckon I could almost imagine her answers already…she’s six and I’m sure they’d feature chocolate, Sean mendes and Mummy 😉
Thanks for linking to #coolmumclub
So sweet! I think the younger you start the better, I’m just sorry I didn’t do this earlier. Some people even film their kids answering the questions and it becomes a lovely momento.
I’m loving this. Tom Holland again! No need for google this time!! I love their answers. They are clearly all very different kids and personalities and it must have been really insightful for you to hear their answers. Just imagine. I’m trying to work out which island I’d rather go to now – not necessarily the one with the chocolate either! Thanks for sharing with #tweensteensbeyond
Yes I can’t believe Tom Holland, he really gets about! Right now I think I’d be happy to go to any of them, as long as there’s no big arguments – I’m never going to turn down a bit of peace and quiet. 😂😂
Can’t seem to shake him off!…
Oh, that’s hard … My own island … I think I’d need a survival expert otherwise it’ll all get a bit Lord of the Flies very quickly.
That would be a bit scary, definitely wouldn’t want that!
Again, fascinating and individual … Tom Holland agin, eh?
This is amazing! I love the differences you can tell by age and the very practical head of your 13 year old – Bear Grylls really is THE person to have with you. I am also rather horrified by how out of touch with modern culture I am. I must be old! Mind you I have a three year old and know the words of Paw Patrol off by heart, so then again… #coolumuclub
Paw Patrol is very on trend so you have nothing to fear. You’d be able to sing yourself out of trouble at least.
